Who is behind this?
At the end of 2006 Martijn de Waal and Michiel de Lange first got together and discussed the idea to collaboratively organize a conference about Locative and Mobile Media and Urban Culture. They approached the Netherlands Architecture Institute with this idea, and pitched it to their research groups, New Media, Public Sphere and Urban Culture at the University of Groningen, and Playful Identities at the the Erasmus University Rotterdam & University of Utrecht. This led to the first The Mobile City conference 2008 on February 27 and 28 2008 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Since then The Mobile City has continued to organize events, research and write about new media and urbanism, and maintain various social networks (Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter). We plan to keep doing so, and are open to discuss any kind of cooperation with third parties.
