Digital Cities 6...

I finally got a chance to attend a workshop in the Digital Cities series last week at the 4th International Conference on Communities and Technologies (C&T 2009) at Penn State University. Digital Cities 6, organized by Marcus Foth, Laura Forlano......

[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The comment's server IP (204.9.180.240) doesn't match the comment's URL host IP (204.9.177.195) and so is spam.

Martjin - many thanks for sharing your notes from the workshop!
Your thoughtful notes on the CoCollage project were very helpful to me - expanding my awareness of related work, and inspiring me to learn more about Jane Jacobs, Lynn Lofland and Claude Fischer's earlier work (Jacobs' term "unwelcome entanglements" is especially evocative). I'll look forward to reading more about your own ideas regarding Starbucks Urbanism.
FWIW, here's a link to a paper with more info about CoCollage, which I'll be presenting here at C&T 2009 on Saturday:
http://interrelativity.com/joe/publications/CoCollage-CCT2009.pdf
I also wanted to thank you for your talk at the workshop. Your ideas about Location Based Media as not necessarily being anywhere, anytime, anything, but here & now, and emphasizing the shift from placeness to situadedness, resonated with me. I also liked your invitation to reconsider efficiency, and to differentiate the view of people as citizens vs. consumers.
